This Rolex Chronograph Ref.8206 is a very typical 1940s design with thick case and heavy, prominent, shoulders, representing something quite unusual from Rolex. Considering just how unfashionable this style would have been in the mid 60s, when simple, slim, elegant, case designs popular, it is expected not to have been valuable during its time.
Today, with only around a dozen appearing at auction since the 1990s and with collectors seeking rarity and originality, it is the highlight of the watches section of our forthcoming Select Jewellery & Watches auction.
